USES OF OLIVE OIL IN COOKING

Most of the meals we eat can be cooked or accompanied by olive oil: the main dishes, salads, appetizers and even desserts like traditional Christmas cookies (mellomakarona) and homemade pancakes.

Contrary to some opinions that want us to avoid using olive oil in fried meals, the right thing is that olive oil is better for frying because it withstands high temperatures and long time cooking (fried in) which can reach up to 210 degrees C without being broken into harmful substances for the organism.

The quantity of olive oil which is considered complete for the human body is 5-8% of the calories we take on a daily basis. This corresponds from 1 to 3 tablespoons of olive oil per day, a satisfactory amount of fatty acids and vitamin E.
