Our Roots
The love for the blessed olive tree has nestled in the hearts of four generations. Since 1940 we have produced consistently high- quality olive oil that we have used at home in our own cooking.
The olive groves of the Christakou family are located in Krokees, in the prefecture of Laconia in the Peloponnese. Violagro is a family business active in the production and marketing of olive oil. Our olive groves are located at an altitude of 300 meters. We use two varieties of olives: Koroneiki and Smirtolia. The combination of these two varieties offers us the unique olive oil in quality, taste and aroma.
In 1940 our family began the journey of olive oil production and each generation passed on its knowledge to the next. Our family’s love for olives and olive oil played an important role in the continuous improvement and in today’s perfect, natural result.
The knowledge of olive oil production has been passed on now to four generations. Each generation kept the traditional cultivation methods, constantly evolving into know-how the production of olive oil with the sole purpose of olive oil being of excellent quality.
This led us today to standardize and package our pure and unique, same day cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, to give others the opportunity to try and cherish our beloved olives.

One day my grandmother told us that ever since she remembered herself, she was working in the fields and also picking olives.
She told us “ I remember back then, when I was little too, my grandmother together with other women were going to the fields to pick the olives dressed in woven long skirts and beautiful yellow and white scarfs to hold their hairs. They were also bringing ladders with them in order to reach, with their bare hands, the olives from the tall olive trees. While they were picking olives were singing songs all together…. ”
So the idea was made a reality, moments of the past came to life for the future. We gathered all together family and friends and revived this story in the soils of our ancestors. We all enjoyed it very much but most of all our grandmother and we all were so happy that we started singing as well!
Our travel through time, we would like to share it with you, conveying (to you) our love and respect for the sacred olive tree that has been passed down from generation to generation and has remained unchanged until now… In this way we continue to create our own story ….
